Fun Family Entertainment Is Spectac In 2016

This year is Spectac! After 50 years of entertaining excellence, 2016 promises to provide a full season of fun family activities and entertainment to share with your son, daughter or children of any age. We’re talking about the Shrine Circus, of course!

It’s been a whole year since we’ve toured southern Ontario, and we’re so excited to be back performing for audiences of all ages. We’ve worked very hard, mastered even more skills and discovered deeper talents that we’re pleased to share with you and your family this season. Hope you can join us!

Fan Mail

At the Shrine Circus we provide fun family entertainment and perform for the smiles and amazement on the faces of all ages of children, big and small. We perfect our acts, both animal and human, as a profession for the love of performing. Sure we could have grown up to be accountants, salespeople, fashion models or cooks, really anything at all… but we each had a specific passion and a calling to perform in the circus, and one of the best on the planet, no less! We never expected to become famous nor do we do it for any notoriety at all… we do what we love to do most, perform our talent and skill for audiences across the country for the sheer enjoyment of being able to do so. We didn’t expect fan mail! We enjoy reading the letters we receive from all ages, so keep them coming!

Elephant Mail

It’s pretty funny, but we actually read fan mail to the animals! Marie and Shelly, the elephants, get the most letters, but we don’t tell the other animal performers that because we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. Elephants are really smart, and when we read the fan letters from children who have seen Marie and Shelly perform, they actually smile! One little girl wrote to the elephants “you are the biggest animals I ever saw in my life and I didn’t know you could dance so well being so big. I love you both, you’re my favourite.” When we read that to the elephants, Shelly and Marie wrapped their trunks around each other and both raised their heads to smile. Flying Mail

One of the most heart-wrenching letters we’ve received was from a young man in a wheelchair. His grandparents brought him to see the Shrine Circus last year. He had been paralyzed from waist down due to a car accident that crushed his lower back. For the performance he saw he was seated ringside under the big top and he said he was so close he “could see the passion and sweat on the performer’s faces”. When it came to the high flying trapeze act he said he was “completely mesmerized”. He wrote: “From that act onwards into the show, I was focused on the performers so intently that for the first time since before the accident I could actually FEEL my lower body! I knew it was only in my head, but I felt sensations in the muscles of my legs as I watched their legs and bodies move. My grandmother swears she saw me move my foot! I thought I was too old to enjoy the circus and my grandparents were just trying to get me out to any wheelchair friendly family activities we could do together, but my Shrine Circus experience will last me a lifetime now because I’ve learned about the power of the brain and that even though I can’t move my lower body I can still positively affect the muscle tissue by intently focusing on the physical movement of others. Thanks so much to all the wonderful Shrine Circus performers. My grandparents and I are coming to see you all perform again this summer!”

We Appreciate All Your Letters And Praise

Each time we step out to perform under Canada’s largest big top we do our very best to amaze and delight each and every audience member. We don’t expect anything in return, we do it for the love of performing, but we sure do appreciate the fan mail and letters of praise we receive each season. Thanks to all of you who come out to see us perform and write letters to us. We hope we get to see you and your families this year. This summer we’re performing in many cities and towns throughout southern Ontario and across the GTA, like Markham, Ancaster, Mississauga, Barrie and more. Visit our website for scheduled dates and locations. We look forward to delighting and amazing you all!
