Four Ways Shrine Circus Fights for Animal Rights
Shrine Circus fights against animal abuse by treating our animals fairly and humanely. We work tirelessly in support of elephant conservation to ensure a safe and fun environment for our animals and your families and friends, every year we visit. Like us, by visiting our circus, you are incredibly supportive of elephant conservation and fair treatment, and it shows in our shared efforts against such cruelty. Here are four ways we supported the rights of elephants this summer, and will continue to do so, with your membership and support.
Donating to the Two Tails Ranch
We ran a promotion this summer that allowed customers to receive a free VIP upgrade by donating to the Two Tails Ranch. The Two Tails Ranch, located near Gainesville, Florida, is the only elephant ranch in the United States that is privately run, and does not receive funding from the government. Your donations have helped the Ranch provide great care for their elephants as they enjoy the lush wildlife surrounding the Two Tails Ranch.
Hiring Professional Animal Handlers and Trainers
Our top industry-leading standards when hiring animal handlers and trainers may just one step we can take against animal cruelty, but it is also one of the most important. Elephants may look imposing but they are very gentle and intelligent creatures deserving of love and respect, just like any other animal. Our professional staff provides top-quality care for our animals, and as a result, the animals are happy due to the love and treatment they receive.
Here at Shrine Circus, we ensure all our animals are well cared for. Whether an elephant wants more food, medicine, or a warmer bed, we do everything we can to accommodate their wishes. Our trainers individually handle each elephant to ensure they are in the best of health and mood.
Continuing to Support Animal Acts at the Circus
Some circuses are ending their animal acts in the face of great public pressure. We know that animal abuse exists and take great measures to take a stand against it! Simply hosting animal acts at the circus does not mean animals are being abused or treated cruelly, anymore than loving and caring for your pet dog or cat means they are abused.
At the end of the day, we love animals, and it shows through the love and support we provide our elephants, animals, and trainers. Instead of simply complying, we take an active stance against animal abuse to ensure it does not exist at Shrine Circus.
Supporting Iconic Circus Animal Acts
At Shrine Circus, we are something of purists. We love the Circus and all the acts it contains. That is why we joined and perform day after day, month after month, year after year. However, we understand that, over time, everyone needs a break so they do not tire themselves out. The same is as true with animals as it is with human performers.
This is just one reason why we support organizations like the Two Tails Ranch in Florida who, like us, are completely against animal cruelty. We understand that even our elephants need to be retired every once in awhile, due to the stresses of performing for elated audiences every week, just like our human performers.
With a focus on elephant conservation, the Ranch ensures elephants enjoy themselves among their peers and wonderful trainers, while immersed in an environment very similar to their native-African one. Interested guests can visit the Ranch and learn all about elephant conservation, and the efforts various circuses, like Shrine Circus, invest in these majestic creatures.
Shrine Circus is actively partnered with many organizations, including children’s organizations, to end animal abuse and cruelty, wherever it may occur. In 2016 we will be performing shows in Toronto, Markham, Brampton, Ottawa, St. Catharines, Welland and the Niagara region.
